Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer to lead the production scale-up efforts for Ambri’s Liquid MetalTM battery technology.

Position Overview

Ambri is seeking an individual to be the Senior Automation Controls Engineer of the Ambri Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team.  The Sr. Automation Controls Engineer will contribute to the development and validation of manufacturing tools, equipment integration as well as help drive control system architectural specifications for Ambri’s Pilot Line facility.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Drive Pilot Line Controls Specifications: e.g., Allen Bradley CompactLogix. FTView Network Distributed.
  • Build libraries of AOIs and Global Objects with Parameters for common devices to streamline and standardize ethernet communication, displaying diagnostic information, and for configuring alarms and controls at the HMI.
  • Allen Bradley PLC/HMI Programming/Troubleshooting Studio5000, RSLogix5000/500/5, RSView32, FTView ME/SE of various equipment types including robotics assembly systems, induction and resistive furnaces, ultrasonic washers, waste treatment systems interfaces.
  • Pressure & Temperature Control with PID tuning.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and/or programming of various automated systems including scrubbers, wash systems, MTS handling systems, gas detection systems, and induction/resistive furnaces.
  • Manufacturing Information System Development & Implementation: Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisitions; Equipment Utilization; Process Monitoring, Quality Management Systems; Statistical Process Control Infrastructure

Requirements: 

  • Entrepreneurial drive with demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment.
  • Must have at least a BS Chem Eng, ME, EE, Physical Science, Master’s degree or higher preferred
  • Has broad and deep experience in industrial chemical processes, and operation of high-volume production lines.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with high volume and industrial engineering.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience in manufacturing supervisory and/or an engineer role, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Have experience within the OEM and/or Tier I supplier community.
  • Knowledge of quality methods and requirements including APQP or phase gate release processes, ISO9001, TS16949, and global OEM development systems.
  • Must have permanent legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
