As a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, the Manufacturing Process Engineer II will be a key contributor to the development and validation of manufacturing tools, equipment, and industrial processes for high-volume manufacturing plant(s) for our unique Liquid MetalTM battery technology and cells. Working collaboratively with other engineering teams, will help to ensure that manufacturable designs are properly created and result in high-quality production while meeting cost and timing requirements. The successful candidate will drive the processes to create the-high volume production plant design and considerations that are unique to our battery technology. 

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to, and help drive process efforts to create a high-volume production line capability for our battery cell production with a scalable, reproducible architecture
• Actively participate in design reviews, design for assembly, and design for manufacturability reviews, with an eye toward cost and quality of the manufacturing process to be implemented
• Advance the development of manufacturing and in-process test processes to support battery assembly
• Facilitate key manufacturing parameters including equipment capacity, equipment strategy, production strategy, cycle time, equipment OEE, capability and costs.
• Support specification development for in-process and end-of-line test equipment required for procurement.
• Work cross functionally to develop a PFMEA and review specifications to capture test equipment requirements
• Establish and lead continuous improvement activities
• Drive plant manufacturing engineering during launch process, until production parameters are met
• Develop methodologies for the determination of cost calculations, including machine costs, manufacturing cycle time studies and overhead rates.
• Support and promote company initiatives
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical and/or Electrical
• 2+ years’ hands-on experience in prior role(s) with expanding proficiency and confidence, and with increasing levels of responsibility, ideally in a manufacturing process engineer role or similar
• Entrepreneurial drive and expressed confidence to work in a fast-paced, innovative, and often changing environment
• Excitement to achieve stretch goals
• Effective communication skills including listening and verbal
• Solid documentation and writing skills
• Experience within the OEM and/or Tier I supplier community
• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with high volume and industrial engineering, preferred
• Experience in specifying, sourcing, qualifying and launching increasingly complex assembly and in-process test equipment, preferred
• Knowledge of quality methods and requirements including APQP or phase gate release processes, ISO9001, TS16949, and global OEM development systems, preferred
